New Build Homes Barking

Barking Central, IGII

Backed by the council’s vision aiming to transform Barking into a thriving destination, this east London district has been billed as the latest regeneration hotspot attracting professionals, couples, families, first time buyers and investors. The biggest scheme still being finalised is Barking Riverside which will attract up to 30,000 people in the next 10 to 15 years.

Buyers currently looking to purchase a property in Barking should consider Barking Central, an award-winning development set in the heart of this historic town & village, moments from the town’s Rail & Underground transport hub, and a 15-min train ride from Fenchurch station in the City of London.

Part of the overall city centre regeneration scheme, Barking Central was built in two phases and by 2010 delivered over 500 residential units. The project included an upgrade of the old city library which stands in the centre of the development. Above the library is a modern, six storey building, a handsome structure that set the tone for the whole scheme with its vividly coloured protruding balconies and an imaginative ground floor galler walkaway opening onto a lush arboretum.

The buildings in Barking Central vary in form, height and materials, but are all connected by a colour strategy inspired by the industrial history of the site which was home to the former R Whites lemonade brand of vivid green and yellow stripes. There are four residential buildings in Barking Central: Ropeworks, the Lemonade Building, the Bath House and 87 Axe Street. The apartments’ size and layout vary depending on a building. All the apartments have open plan contemporary interiors and a private amenity space such as balcony or terrace often with roof garden or town centre views. Apartment features include generous double glazing throughout, laminate floor finish to main living areas, fully integrated open plan kitchens, wardrobe to master bedrooms and modern ceramic tiles to bathroom floors and walls.  Barking Central has a large cycle parking facility and has achieved an Eco Homes rating of ‘very good’.

Barking Central is in the heart of this vibrant city and yet, it occupies an enviably quiet, traffic free location. The Vicarage Field shopping centre (soon to be replaced with a new scheme by Studio Egret West), as well as the modern Abbey Leisure Centre (two swimming pools, 140-station gym and a group fitness studio) are both nearby.  A stroll away is Abbey Green, the attractive open green space and a home to the remains of Barking Abbey, the former 7th century royal monastery.

The one, two and three-bedroom apartments currently available for sale start from approx. £215,000.  For more details about our current collection of homes available in Barking Central, IG11 click HERE.
