The Silk District London E1 residential lettings

The Silk District, London E1

The Silk District apartment collection is nestled in the historic Whitechapel, a vibrant East End district bordering the City of London.

Well placed within an established residential neighbourhood, this modern, mixed-use development occupies a convenient and quiet location near the new Tower Hamlets Town Hall and is a short distance away from Whitechapel Road home to the Elizabeth line.

Silk District’ s 600 high-valued residences are arranged in three distinctively new buildings: The Jacquard, The Georgette and The Bouchon. The site comprises a neat ensemble of buildings including a terrace of townhouses, a low courtyard block and two towers. Within the site is a sizeable public realm area with an elegant piazza created as an open landscaped urban sanctuary with mature trees amongst elegant seating and modern playground facilities. The Silk District residents’ facilities include a 24-hour concierge, a cinema room, co-workspace, gym/fitness facility, and secure bicycle storage. The first residents moved in 2022 and the development reached completion in 2023.

The Silk District is a venture partnership by the well-established developers: Mount Anvil and L&Q. The master plan and design are by Stockwool, the London-based architects and experts in urban regeneration. Launched in 2018, the collection has been built on a site previously occupied by a large Self Storage facility.

Shortlisted in 2017 in the Planning Awards for Best Housing Scheme and Best Regeneration Scheme, The Silk District won the 2022 Development of the Year award by Resi Awards and the Residential Project of the Year award 2023 by Constructing Excellence Awards.

A unifying terrazzo effect porcelain floor extends from living rooms to bathrooms and brings an element of ‘Italian glamour’. The distinctive, space-savvy kitchen cabinetry is fitted with high-end integrated kitchen appliances and is the design statement on its own. The elegant master bedrooms have sizeable built-in wardrobes and additional storage space. Heating, hot water and power are provided by a central system. Each apartment has underfloor heating as well as house ventilation.
