St Davids Square E14

St. David's Square, London E14

St. David's Square is a contemporary riverside developments built earlier at the south tip of the Isle of Dogs. In the late 1980’s, a new generation of modern developments like Cascades, Burrells Wharf and Cyclops Wharf started a new phase of residential development that continues today in E14. Revealed as an exclusive waterside neighbourhood, St. David's Square was to deliver a whole new riverside lifestyle at the turn of the new millennium.

Tucked away from the busy Canary Wharf business district, near Millwall Park and Island Gardens, the development features seven residential buildings plus townhouse terraces offering a rich mix of apartments varied in size and viewpoints. The buildings are carefully planned to allow space for a large watergarden, two formal landscaped gardens, a riverside walk and many lookouts providing easy access to the river and uninterrupted views of the Thames and Greenwich.

Commended for its seclusion and exclusivity, the development covers approx. 7.5 acres and offers 24hr concierge services, access to residents’ business centre, a gym, sauna, spa and swimming pool as well as secure parking for most of the apartments.

Apartments:

Spacious and bright 1,2,& 3 bedroom apartments + duplexes, penthouses and 3-4 bedroom houses most with balconies and terraces. The living space arrangement favours the layout that separates the kitchen (galley kitchen or kitchenette) from the main living / dining room.  The developer was generous with the main sleeping area volume as most homes feature a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, plus an additional space for a dressing room.

Transport:

The nearest DLR station is Island Gardens – a two minutes’ walk from St. David's Square, which links with the heart of Canary Wharf in no time.  London City Airport is a short taxi journey from St David's Square. There is a quick and easy access to the M25 and the national motorway network. Greenwich is also easily reached via the Greenwich Foot Tunnel entered at Island Gardens.

A bit of history:

Consort House and Dominion House, two tall buildings sitting at the easternmost corner of the development, occupy the site of an old Millwall Lead Works factory that was producing lead for paint. By 1950s, lead manufactory companies occupied a long stretch of the riverfront. The production ceased by 1980s and two decades later the developers St George transformed the site into St. David's Square residential. In 1998 the construction started  on this residential scheme first named as Lockes Wharf. The architects Phillip Randal & Parkes planned the scheme with four large apartment buildings facing onto the river which are backed by four taller blocks set closer to Westfeery Road.
